About Me

I haven't written an autobiography since the sixth grade. And it was easier then. I only had 12 years to deal with. Back then I wanted to be a number of things including: QVC host, pharmacist, model, teacher, interior decorator, cosmetologist and E! news reporter. So the fact that I now work at a medical spa as a makeup artist shouldn't surprise me that much.

In college I majored in communication with a minor in journalism. Maybe that is where my desire to have a blog comes from. Or I'm ready to put my high school senior English award to good use.

My interest in makeup goes back to the sixth grade when life was all about getting ready for the skating rink and trying not to burn your forehead with the curling iron when teasing your bangs. Throughout the years, I worked with many pageant contestants perfecting their stage makeup, but it was always just something I did for fun. After making the transition from working at a daily newspaper to a medical spa, I attended jane iredale University. And now I won't use anything else. It's like skin care and makeup all in one.

So besides loving makeup, what else might you like to know?

I married my best friend at age 30. When anyone hears about our story they tell us it needs to be made into a movie. You can read our story here. We are currently on the journey toward parenthood, but not exactly sure yet how that will look for us. With our fertility struggles we need extra help, but if none of those methods work, we are open to adoption.

We live in the Midwest with our amazing Brussels Griffon mix shelter dog, Zoe. Some people think she looks like a koala bear. Some people say she's more of  a Gremlin. Everyone says she's the most human-like dog they've ever been around.

I'm also a vegetarian and won't eat anything with a face. I have been a vegetarian since high school. And no, I don't care if my husband eats meat.

I have an anxiety disorder that I would say is in remission now. I am very open in speaking about it because I know it helps others to realize they are not alone and also to let people know there is help available.

I love to volunteer. Especially with my church and a local mission organization.

I also love pop culture, reality TV, fashion on a budget, news, the beach and candy. I'm just a girl trying to "make it work" one day at a time.

What else do you want to know? Makeup question? Anxiety question? Send me an e-mail here or leave me a comment. Clearly I have no problem oversharing on the Internet.
